Microneedling for hair loss

Did you know that microneedling can treat mild to moderate hair loss?

Evidence suggests that microneedling helps regenerate hair follicles which can lead to new hair growth. A study found that microneedling significantly improved hair count after 12 weeks when compared to the control group that did not receive microneedling. It is thought that microneedling assists in hair regrowth by stimulating stem cells into the hair follicle which in turn activates growth factors (PMC3746236). Increased blood flow to the scalp is also thought to help with hair regrowth.  Microneedling responds best to mild to moderate hair loss and, unfortunately, is ineffective for people with a totally bald scalp.

There is also evidence that microneedling can help with hair loss, including alopecia areata, which is an autoimmune condition that leads to bald patches on the scalp or body.
