We love using electroacupuncture at Alchemy Acupuncture Studio, especially for nerve and musculoskeletal conditions. But you may be asking what on earth is it and how is it effective at treating these types of conditions?

Electroacupuncture combines electrical stimulation with acupuncture needles to enhance therapeutic effects. I liken it to the best massage you will ever have! An electrode is attached to the needle which delivers a low-frequency electrical current to the acupuncture point. This creates a gentle pulse-like sensation. The electrical impulses stimulate muscles to contract and relax which improves blood flow and oxygen supply to the tissues. This helps reduce muscle tension and promotes healing. Electroacupuncture also enhances cellular repair and stimulates local healing in damaged tissues, nerves and joints.
If you are a newbie to acupuncture, we recommending one session of acupuncture without the electrical stimulation first. This is because electroacupuncture can be quite stimulating and may not be suitable for all people.
If you are interested in trying out acupuncture for that niggling nerve or muscle pain, please make a booking for Body Acupuncture at Alchemy Acupuncture Studio.
