Electroporation is a technique where an electrical field is applied to skin cells in order to increase the permeability of the membranes, allowing products to be introduced into cells more efficiently. Its application to the skin has been shown to increase transdermal product delivery by several orders of magnitude. Used alone or in combination with microneedling, electroporation expands the range of products which can be delivered trans-dermally.

Benefits of Electroporation:

  • Increased absorption of active ingredients into the skin and into the cells

  • When used with microneedling, the effectiveness is increased as the channels from microneedling further allow for deeper absorption of products

  • Topical treatments are more effective as studies suggest electroporation technology boosts the effectiveness of topical treatments by several hundred percent.

The main advantage of electroporation is that it is a totally painless treatment and does not cause any kind of trauma to the skin as it does not require needles. You can request electroporation as a standalone treatment or in combination with microneedling at Alchemy Acupuncture Studio.
