What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses tiny, sterile needles to create ‘micro-injuries’ to the outermost layer of the skin. This process induces the body’s natural healing response which results in increased collagen and elastin production. The increase in collagen and elastin helps improve skin texture and tone and reduces the visibility of scaring, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

Microneedling:
Increase cell proliferation and cell regeneration
Improved skin texture
Improved skin tone and tightness
Improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Improved appearance of acne and surgical scars
Improved appearance of pigmentation
Improved appearance of rosacea
Improved appearance of stretch marks
Reduction in pore size
At Alchemy Acupuncture Studio we use the highest quality professional device for microneedling, the Mesopen Pro. The Mesopen Pro is TGA certified and combines electroporation and microneedling for advanced results. Electroporation is a technique where an electrical field is applied to cells in order to increase the permeability of the membranes. When used with microneedling, electroporation expands the range of products which can be delivered trans-dermally. The combination of microneedling with electroporation also means that it isn’t necessary to needle as deeply as other devices. This is because the electrical pulses from electroporation makes the skin’s cells more permeable allowing for increased absorption leading to exceptional results.
As deeper needling is not required, we don’t usually use a numbing cream prior to treatments and the next treatment can take place within 2-4 weeks (rather than 5-6 weeks). A full course of microneedling consists of 6 treatments every 2- 4 weeks. We recommend combining microneedling and/or electroporation with cosmetic acupuncture for optimal results. After the initial course, many people switch to microneedling sessions twice yearly depending on the condition being treated.
